Competition Information

Any EJB Competition….

  • KIT – We will lend you a club leotard and shorts for boys. You will receive this in a training session prior to the competition or at the competition itself. You hand the kit back on the day of the competition. You do not take it home and you do not wash it! (I have that pleasure!)
  • TIME – You need to arrive at the competition about 15mins before the warm up time, so that your gymnast can see the gym and get used to the situation.
  • HAIR – You will need to make sure that their hair is neatly and securely tied back, as marks will be lost for an untidy appearance.
  • JEWELLERY  – you will not be allowed to compete if you are wearing jewellery. Tape up new ear rings.
  • RESULTS – Prepare your gymnast for winning and loosing! No tears either way please! (that’s from the gymnast and the parents!) Congratulate the winners and don’t take the scores too much to heart!

GfA – Gymnastics for All

General Information

  • 2023 rules are new. There are 8 levels, Level 1 is the first and easiest level, Level 8 is the most difficult.
  • If you score over a certain amount of marks you can move up to the next level.
  • VAULTS – each vault has a ‘tariff’ – this is what the vault is marked from. Gymnasts do 2 vaults – most often it is the same vault done twice. You can do two different vaults. The judge takes the highest scoring vault.
  • FLOOR ROUTINES – you only get one chance from one performance.
  • Levels 1 and 2 – all gymnasts perform a floor routine on a strip of mats, without music.
  • Levels 3 and 4 – all gymnasts perform a floor routine on a 10m square mat, without music.
  • Levels 5, 6, 7 and 8 – all gymnasts perform a floor routine on a 12m square mat. Girls use music for their floor routines.
  • Medals are awarded to the top 3 gymnasts in each age in each level 3-6, as are ribbons for gymnasts placing 4th, 5th & 6th. There is also a trophy for the highest score on vault and the highest score on floor.
  • AGES – all gymnasts have to be at least 7 years old in the year of the event. In 2023 this means that gymnasts born in 2016 can compete.
